Greetings from Wikimedia India !
We sincerely regret the lack of communication in the past few months (last communication was in Feb 2012), though we had few IRC sessions. We thank you for your patience.
Chapter audit including the accounts of WCI 2011 are in progress. Income tax department has responded to our income tax exemption (12A registration) application and requested for additional information. Chapter will be filing the same shortly.
Ec has drafted Election rules to put in place the defined mechanism for conducting EC member elections, EC office bearer elections and also other official appointments of the chapter. We will be sharing this with members and community for feedback.
Membership:
Membership renewals and fresh memberships are under process. We expect to complete the backlog with in a week.
Membership at the end of Mar 31, 2011 was 197.
We request all members who have not yet sent in their renewal
applications and fee to do the same so as to reach Chapter office on or
before 30 June 2012 which marks end of grace period for renewal.And we also welcome Wikimedians to join the chapter.
Donations:
Total Donations at the end of Mar 31, 2011 was Rs 19701/-
FCRA: FCRA approval was received. We have received a sum of approx 6.5 lakhs from Wikimedia Foundation in April 2012. We have spent Rs 37550/- towards WikiSangamotsav.
Internet Relay Chat(IRCs):
We had one Chapter SIG IRC 4th May 2012, in which events, membership renewal and grants were discussed.
Board Meetings:
We had eight meetings, including one face to face meeting in the last
four months. We met with Hisham and Barry and had discussions on the
plans of India programs.
WikiConference 2011
We made good progress on the scrutiny of WikiConference Mumbai 2011
accounts. We expect to submit the documents to the auditor in 1-2 weeks.
Colloboation with India programs team Though considerable effort was spent by Wikimedia Chapter EC, Hisham, Barry and others towards defining a colloboration framework, we could not reach consensus as the approaches differ. Chapter will continue to cooperate with India programs in an ad hoc, case-by-case manner.
