Just a rough search on Jamendo (one of the websites on the list on the Creative Commons website - https://creativecommons.org/legalmusicforvideos ) for carnatic music gave me two results - http://www.jamendo.com/en/search?bq=tags_idstr:*^5&q=*:*%20AND%20tags_idstr:%22carnatic%22

Perhaps, Indian musicians are already contributing to such an effort but might be worthwhile for us to do so more actively. Not only for background music for our videos but also perhaps on some Wikimedia article.
