Dear Wikimedians,
I am reaching out to let you know about an *online training session tomorrow, where you can learn how to translate Wikipedia*. The event is being run by the University of Leeds Libraries, in partnership with the Knowledge Equity Network and will run from *2pm - 5pm. *
You can register here: https://leeds.libcal.com/calendar/openresearch/wiki_translate
Why is translating Wikipedia important?
As a global source of information, English Wikipedia is available to everyone and can be automatically translated with modern tools. Nevertheless, translating articles into other languages empowers those smaller language communities (like Gaeilge!) while reflecting local context. Wikipedia is also an important source for AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) so can contribute to both the accuracy of information and its translation.
If you have any questions, there is more information available at the link above, or feel free to contact me. Beir bua,

Hi Sophie and Seáinín,
I let the event organisers know that there might be enough interest to open up a few more places, and the registration was reopened. I've not checked this morning if it's still open, but there may still be places.
Best wishes, Richard
