Conor,

I've been offline WRT Wikimedia, etc. for a couple of months owing to other activities and commitments. Although Cork based, I would be happy to help out at a drop in session for 'how-to-edit' or 'Ask a Wikimedian' if one was to go ahead (at a weekend).

Let me know if this goes ahead or if you need any help.

Regards,
Oliver

Hi all,

Dublin City of Science 2012 is definitely going ahead, yes! And I am a
member of the organising team.

The Irish made a great bid and the amazing Convention Center Dubiln
will host ESOF 2012, a gathering of scientists from all over the world
to discuss the major topics in science today.

The government also made a great decision to also back the project of
making Dublin the European Capital of Science for 2012 and there will
be some funding to arrange outreach events throughout 2012 (and
hopefully beyond). Particular favour for funding will be given to
events with one or more partners and it is hoped that other partners
could provide some level of funding (altough this is not always
necessary!).

I'd love for Wikimedia to get involved and it would also be a great
impetus to get the Irish chapter launched. The call for outreach is
not officially launched yet, but I will let you all know when it goes
out.

I would certainly work on this, but I'm not an expert Wiki-editor! Who
else would be on-board for potentially helping? All suggestions are
welcome for event-types and styles.

Cheers,

Conor.

p.s. Although I am very interested in web science, I won't be able to
make it to Galway - thanks Jodi.

Doing a talk that advertises that session to conference-goers would also be good. I'm sure that WMUK could help with some of the logistics, provided that enough wikimedians in Ireland want to take part.
