Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some contests and events running over the next month.

-Our Wiki Loves Monuments/1916/Vicipéid Writing contests are ongoing. You can create or expand articles in any of these categories to enter. To find the rules, see recommended articles, and to enter visit the contest page [1]

-As an extension of the contest above we will be hosting a 1916 Wikipedia Writer's Workshop at the Science Gallery in Dublin on 18 October from 6:30-8pm. We'll have experienced Wikipedians on hand to help you register for an account and start editing articles. We'll also help point you in the right direction for sources, images, ect. for entries into the contest. Bring a laptop if you have one. For more info visit the contest page [2]

-Another project targeting Irish content is the 10,000 Challenge. the aim of the contest is to reach 10,000 article improvements for the UK and Ireland. If you wrote an article for our contest you can add it to this page. Visit the project page to find out more and to add your entry [3]

-Finally, if you are interesting in the world between the living and the dead than the upcoming event run by the University of Edinburgh is right up your street! They are hosting a 2 day edit-a-thon to celebrate the lives of those sadly passed on. The event runs from 31 October to 1 November at the University of Edinburgh. Even if you're outside of Edinburgh, you can still participate. Visit the event page for more details and to sign up [4]
