The winners now go on to compete in the international Wiki Loves Monuments competition against images from 40 other countries – we wish them the very best of luck!

It’s been an amazing few months seeing Wiki Loves Monuments garner support and participation from counties right across Ireland, particularly as it is the first year that the competition has taken place here.

The organisers of Wiki Loves Monuments Ireland would like to extend a sincere thanks to the judges: Monika Chmierlaz, photoeditor of Blow Photo Magazine; Ian Doyle, Head of Conservation at The Heritage Council;  Kate Horgan, Award-winning photojournalist and photoeditor; Darius Whelan, Public Lead for Creative Commons Ireland; and Ken Williams, published photographer on prehistoric monuments and megalithic art.

We’d also like to thank our partners, the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the OPW, Open Knowledge Ireland, Dimension Data, The Heritage Council, National Heritage Week, and the Wikimedia Foundation for their support in helping us make this competition a success.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated once the international Wiki Loves Monuments winners are announced.

Regards,
Sabina Bonnici
