Project scope is to translate selected Wikipedia Articles in the Health Topic, from English to Arabic using the Google Translator Toolkit.
For every translated word, Google will donate 3 Cents to the 57357 Cancer hospital, that's up to 50,000 $ for this project.
What do we need ?
We need volunteers to join the Google-Wikipedia Health Speaks Team, and to work in Translating, Reviewing, Organizing Events and Trainings. All majors and backgrounds are most welcomed.
How it works ?
First, we will have Google/Wikipedia accounts. Log in to the Health Speaks Website
www.google.org/healthspeaks. We will be trained on how to use toolkits for translation and reviewing. Mentorship will be available all times.
What is the kind of commitment ?
No certain commitment needed, just as much contribution as you can according to your time. Don't forget that for each translated word Google will donate!
Where I will work ?
From Home! as long as you have an internet connection. Some Trainings and a Ceremony will take place and will be posted.
What I will do Exactly ?
Translate Using Google Toolkit,
Review,
Give Trainings,
Organize Events,
Be a "Google Student Ambassador" (with your name/photo listed on the Google.org website), to give mentorship and support during the whole project.
Can I join alone ?
YES! Also, NGOs, Student Groups and Activities can join and contribute !
When the Project will go live ?
The Health Speaks site will be live on 1st of September 2010.
How shall we communicate ?
We will be added to the Google Site, and the Health Speaks Arabic Mail Group.
I have more questions ?
Thanks!
