In reply to a couple of your points Zero,
- The HSC is only in NSW, true. However this particular presentation
can be used in any school as it doesn't refer to the HSC syllabus but
rather how Wikipedia can be used more generally. On the point of
having the HSC in other states... education is a state-based thing in
Aust. and therefore each state does it's own thing. The federal gov't
is currently making noises about a national high school curriculum
but don't expect there to be a common high-school leaving exams for
all australian students for at least a decade.
- The pillars would be a good thing to add, I agree. And I probably
should have added a link/reference to the editing tutorial for
beginners...
- the diagram of the anatomy comes directly from the Foundation's
Annual Report:
it is just convenient that they happened to chose an Australian
related topic for their example. The text of this report is cc-by-sa
so we can use it for the basis of a publication if we want.
Best,
-Liam

Sounds like you're doing great work on
representing the chapter and
Wikimedia. Here're some of my thoughts.
A bit more generally: the HSC is limited to NSW only, right? It would
be nice to see it covered in Queensland or Victoria as well, but I'm
not savvy on the inner workings of the education system. I probably
won't represent ourselves that well <.<
This might go further down the line but mentioning [[Wikipedia:Five
pillars]] would work as a good intro to taking part with Wikipedia
more deeply.
Page 22/23 (the diagram of the anatomy of an article) can probably be
a good base for something to cover Wikipedia in that joint publication
with CCau.

Dear all,
Yesterday I gave a presentation to the annual NSW English Teachers'
Association conference loosely based on the fact that Wikipedia is
now an optional HSC text.
You can search for the full details from the association's website
here:
http://www.englishteacher.com.au/
There were about 20 teachers attending the workshop which lasted for
an hour. Rather than trying to give a detailed discussion of how
Wikipedia can be studied in the context of the HSC I did three
things: a "why you need to know", an "anatomy of a page" and some
examples of how WP can be used to start conversations in class (such
as how to be critical of texts).
You can see the PDF at the "presentations" page at meta: http://
meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Presentations/en
I would really like some feedback on this from a wikipedian's
perspective - it was very well received by the teachers.
