As we have already learnt a bit about this Act, and will learn more as
time passes, I have placed the entire text on Wikisource, and started
a Wikipedia article for it. Expanding this article will assist the
committee understand the regulations, and will help new & potential
members learn about the immediate legal framework that regulates our
chapter.

The formatting of the text on Wikisource can be improved, anchors can
be added to simplify linking into sections of the law, and wikilinks
and annotations are always welcome.
Cheers,
John
I've gone ahead and given the Wikimedia Australia page on Meta a bit of a change and a new design ( http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia ).
I did propose this onto the mailing list, and the one suggestion brought up was to only have the one 'coloured' box at the top (instead of the four boxes). I went ahead and recoded the header so the other header text is simply invisibly tabled beneath it. Hope there is no problems with this, if you do find any minor errors, feel free to change it although I believe it is all OK.
Another point is what Craig mentioned on the conference call - we should follow some of the ideas that the other populated chapters have done.. One of them that caught my eye is to have a public wiki open to the Australian Wikimedians situated at a location such as au.wikimedia.org. Examples are http://nz.wikimedia.org/ and http://www.wikimedia.org.ar/.

Hi folks,
I am happy to report that our incorporation meeting went very
smoothly. Thankyou to everyone who participated by showing up at
Melbourne, conference call or proxy. The high level of support for
this relatively tedious stage of affairs is heartening!
We had 10 in Melbourne, 4 in Adelaide, 3 in Brisbane, 2 in Sydney, 1
in Hobart, with 14 people participating via proxy. Stephen
(user:thebainer) chaired and I took minutes. In short, all the motions
were passed. I will post the minutes on our official website when we
get it set up and respectable-like, and notify this list when that's
done.
Brian spoke a bit about when we might hold our inaugural AGM. Assuming
all goes well with CAV, he suggested to hold it in early July. Because
we have to have an AGM between July-Nov to put in a treasurer's report
for the previous financial year anyway. So if we hold off until July,
we can avoid having to have two AGMs (sic) in one calendar year. It
will also be good, I think, to have two months for members to get
financial, to maximise participation.
The committee is tentatively planning to have a meeting this Sunday.
We have lots of details to start fleshing out - starting with a bank
account.
BTW, the committee has an email address now. :) If you would like to
reach the whole committee at once, you can email comm(a)wikimedia.org.au
.
(Of course, much discussion can and should take place on this list
rather than in private. But if you want the option, it's there.)
Privatemusings raised a point about members possibly being able to
participate in the AGM without paying the annual fee, because we have
no joining fee (??). If he could expand on that point now that would
be good, because my reading of the rules suggests all members must pay
the annual fee:
>>
4(1) A person who applies and is approved for membership as provided
in these Rules is eligible to be a member of the Association on
payment of the entrance fee and annual subscription payable under
these Rules.

Should the page which has the rules that are now going to be presented for
incorporation be protected as there should never be a reason to alter the
page with out an official meeting taking place and an agreement being
reached to make any changes. Even then only a committee member should be
making the change.

Hi All,
I've tried calling the number on their site a couple of times now, but I
just end up going to the voicemail of "Frank" who is in charge of venue
hire.
I still think it's worth going, even if we can't get the room I'm sure that
there's some study areas or whatever that we can use. We'll just have to
keep the volume down, is all.
I'll be wearing a black Smashing Pumpkins shirt and a bowler's hat
incidentally, so that I stand out from the crowd (having missed the last
meet :-/). Meet outside the room just before 2:30pm local time?
Cheers,
Craig

I amended the Agenda to take note of the need to appoint Returning
Officers, as Brian Salter-Duke suggested, a while ago. But, I think we
need Returning Officers ready before the meeting is supposed to
officially start, technically.
Perhaps it's a better idea for the Officers are appointed during the
half hour before the meeting begins, while we're linking up and
preparing?

Is anyone interested and where would we host this? We'd obviously need a conference telephone.

Subject: Teleconference and Adelaide venue
We have access to an Adelaide venue and a teleconference service.
Thanks Jerry for the educationau support.
I have included the numbers on the wiki
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Incorporation
If we can aim for one conference call/phone per city it will be
cheaper than doing it with mobs of people calling independently.
City teams can use the local city numbers. There is also a freecall
number for rural folks.
Below is an example of the kind of announce message we would send out
for a teleconference:
==
The date and time for this event are as follows.
0500 UTC Sunday 20th April (3pm Melbourne time)
The phone in details are as follows.
* Local numbers*
* Adelaide +61-8-8121-0007
* Brisbane +61-7-3102-0132
* Canberra +61-2-6100-0208
* Melbourne +61-3-9010-0371
* Perth +61-8-9467-0004
* Sydney +61-2-8214-9701
* For rural folks: 1-800-889-898
* Participant passcode: 2916797, followed by #
Please wiki to confirm (or otherwise) your intention to join the
meeting at the city team location.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Australia/Incorporation#When.3F
Please email Janet to confirm your intention to connect on an independent line.
