At last Tuesday’s meeting, we decided to organize a second WikiPix virtual editathon [1] to be held in two weeks on Sunday, August 31, 2025. Our goal is continue working through the 452 WikiPix images that remain to be checked [2] and improved with metadata [3]. That’s the last day for Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos [4], which seems like a useful project.
For the virtual editathon, we would like help in the following areas:
- If you have a few minutes to review and improve the event page [1], that would be fantastic — and please do sign up if you’re interested!
- Do you have thoughts on the best time to organize the event? We debated between 3-4:30pm and 3:30-5pm — would either of those times, or other times that day work best for you? Please let us know!
- Are you interested in helping to lead the virtual editathon and guide attendees through checking the submissions, improving the metadata and finding Wikipedia articles that could benefit from additional photos? Please let us know!
