Even if you haven't been coming to the planning meetings, I hope you'll participate in the project. It's low pressure, low stakes, but hopefully high fun! Just visit a North Carolina place of cultural, natural, or historic significance and upload it to the Wikimedia Commons between May 22 and June 22. (Full details at the page above.)

Our next planning meeting is next THURSDAY, May 19, at 7pm. Zoom link to come. The project will launch just four days later, so I hope you're able to join!

In the meantime, here are a handful of things folks can work on asynchronously:
  • Gaurav did an amazing job of finding gorgeous photos for the bottom of the page. Anyone want to add an inline photo or two somewhere earlier in the page for visual interest?
  • The cute button at the top that says "click here to upload your photos" etc... can we add it again toward the bottom, right after the "Got Questions" section and before the photos? I just tried quickly copying and pasting, but it had a "float:right" situation and I couldn't figure out what to replace that with to make it centered. ;)
  • Try out the upload before our meeting, pretending you're brand new to the Wikimedia Commons. When we meet, we'll discuss: Did everything go smoothly? Was anything confusing?
  • Question: We talked about the hashtag #wikipixNC22 in our last meeting. Should we ask people to add that somewhere in their photo upload, the way we add it to an edit summary during #1lib1ref?
  • Related question: Should we add somewhere to the page that people should use that hashtag when talking about the project on social media?
