The three members of the North Carolina Wikimedians Core Team have a couple of event ideas for this fall, and we'd like to check in with you to see what you think. Are we on the right track? Adjustments we should consider? Something you'd be willing to help us organize?
Wiknic at Lake Crabtree County Park https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/parks-recreation-open-space/all…, a Saturday in September
* Lake Crabtree County Park is a very central location in the Triangle near RTP
* The Core Team will provide deli trays, guests bring a side dish or dessert
* This would be mostly a social event, maybe with some photo taking and mobile editing onsite, perhaps following up with an online editing session focused on the lake, the park, and wildlife found in the park
Halloween-themed event for Wikidata's 14th birthday https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Fourteenth_Birthday
* Idea: find a trunk-or-treat location and hand out treats labeled with their Wikidata IDs, like candy corn (Q12054162) and Fruit Roll-Ups (Q5506376).
* Wear costumes labeled with Wikidata IDs, like clown (Q7358) or robot (Q11012)
* We may apply for funding from Wikimedia Deutschland’s microgrant
* Location: This Hillsborough Street location seems good, if it's happening again this year https://www.hillsboroughstreet.org/events/trick-or-treat-hillsborough-street
* This event would focus on raising awareness with the general public, not on editing. People would be encouraged to look up the Wikidata items on their phones.
* Do you have other trunk-or-treat locations to suggest?
For now, please send a quick reply to me or to the mailing list to share your thoughts. We're also planning a more comprehensive survey to better understand this user group's interests. Watch for that later in the fall.

Apologies for the late reminder, but our next monthly meeting is scheduled for tonight, June 14 from 7-8pm ET on Zoom [1] — I hope to see you there!
Our agenda [2] mainly covers discussing plans for future meetings: it’s Wiknic season, and fall will be here before you know it. And we should make sure we have plenty of time to advertise and get funding for our (new) signature annual event: a Wikipedia Day celebration around Wikipedia’s birthday, January 15. But please add anything else you’d like to discuss.
