Dear Wikimedians of Colorado User Group,

We are inviting the Wikimedians of Colorado User Group to participate in the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) contest [1]. WPWP is a global image contest scheduled to take place from July to August 2023.

Eligible participants will choose among Wikipedia pages without photos/illustrating media, then add a suitable photo, video, or audio from among the thousands of media files on Wikimedia Commons, especially those uploaded from thematic contests (Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Folklore, etc.) over the years.

In previous editions of the campaign, more than 60 Wikimedia communities in over 52 countries joined the campaign. Media files were cumulatievly added to more than 300,000 Wikipedia articles in more than 200 languages.

Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos allows participation at individual and group level. The campaign can be used by user groups and chapters to organize editing training workshops and complement Affiliate’s image and image-use-related training components as part of general outreach activities.

The organizing team is looking for a contact person to coordinate WPWP participation at the Wikimedia user group or chapter level (geographically or thematically) or for a language Wikipedia. We would be glad for you to reply to this email, or sign up directly at WPWP Participating Communities.
