I want to share with you the output of the editathon. So concerning the event in itself, unfortunately it was not really successful as we were only 4 participating physically and 0 remotely. I want to thank Afek and Sami for showing up and contributing. About the output, as the number of participants was low, quantity of contributions was as well. We created only 10 articles and improved 7. Languages were only arabic, english and french. Yet, we have uploaded 260 photos of more than 90 African country, plus some photos of the festival itself. This was also an opportunity to take photos of Dar El Harka. So the lessons learnt through this experience are: *Partnering with the media departments of festivals is very useful and give us more accessibility and better quality, yet next time, I suggest that someone more experienced with taking portraits goes instead, as the quality of the photos I took is not that great. *We have a problem with communication on social media. Only 25 applied to come and only 1 came. *More communication within the team as noone apart of Afek and Sami participated. *Preparing a budget in the begining of the year for such events. Hi Houssem, Thanks for sharing this outcome! I think the fact the editathon was programmed during a week day might have contributed to the low level of participation. If possible, it is always better to organize such events during week-ends so people who work or study during the week can come. Regarding the partnering with various organizations to get privileged accessibility to events, I think this is a great approach and the group should leverage what happened with JCC to get access to further events. So the lessons learnt through this experience are: *Partnering with the media departments of festivals is very useful and give us more accessibility and better quality, yet next time, I suggest that someone more experienced with taking portraits goes instead, as the quality of the photos I took is not that great. *We have a problem with communication on social media. Only 25 applied to come and only 1 came. *More communication within the team as noone apart of Afek and Sami participated. *Preparing a budget in the begining of the year for such events. Dear Houssem, Coming back to you after a holiday break :-) No worry for the effort, if I can support the group’s events through this mean I am more than happy to do that. For the timing, I guess there is no ideal schedule and you must indeed deal with venues that are available. This being said, I don’t think the group's legal status should play a role. As it was pointed out in the article, my colleagues never mentioned the association because they would appear as amateurs towards event organizers; they actually come to them saying something like ‘through me your event will have visibility on one of the most visited websites in Tunisia’ and without discussing into details what their actual role was. It has worked well, especially because they have built a little pager showing good pictures of the events they have been given access to. I imagine that if you come now and contact festival organizers indicating you were given access to JCC, I guess it would more easily open doors. This being said, I agree with you it is important to appear as much ‘professional’ as possible in this approach, meaning having good quality material and skills. I am sure material can be bought through microgrants (except if other group members can share theirs) and skills can be shared because I know there are some good photographers in the group. Do we want to limit the list to the main festival category (feature films) or should we cover all categories? There is already a lot of articles to write and this is the category where we have the most chances to have admissible articles but up to you. Hi Houssem, That is a good idea. I have added a table with articles on the festival and its directors and another one about other film festivals in Tunisia. I am not sure about cinema theatres, do we have sources about these that could serve for an article?
