Dear Houcem,

It's always a pleasure to read about your incredible work. We've been lucky to have you collaborating in MedinaPedia Sfax. I would encourage you to submit this proposal. I don't think any of us would ever object to it.

Also if you get a sucessful proposal you may find a way to get a scholarship to attend Wikimania.

All the best.

Dear all,
I thank you for your efforts. As you already know, I have developed with Mr. Houssem Abida, Ms. Zeineb Takouti and Ms. Emna Mizouni a method of library outreach for MedinaPedia Sfax. The idea consists of contacting libraries including books about the Medina of Sfax and asking them to borrow us these books so that we can scan them and put them in a Google Drive-based repository so that they can be used as references by the participants to the project. These references are enriched with ones from online repository such as Gallica, Library of Congress, Abhatoo and Cairn and validated by professors emeriti. Further information about the work can be found in https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_TN_-_Library_Outreach.pdf. Currently, as this method was successful to ameliorate the coverage of the Medina of Sfax in Wikipedia, the leader of Libraries Space in Wikimania asked me if I can make a video about the method or propose a brief session about it in Wikimania. As we did this work together, I ask for your permission to do this proposal to Wikimania. I also ask if you would like to enter as coauthors of this proposal. This session will be considered as a model of how user groups can do library outreach to develop their projects. It can also allow us to have scanners for other MedinaPedia projects.
Yours Sincerely,
Houcemeddine Turki (he/him)

Hi Houcem,

Are you attending Wikimania? If so I would love it if you would propose a talk on your Tunisian library project!
https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2019:Libraries

Or if you are not attending, perhaps someone else from the user group? This is a really great example of work with libraries to support mutual efforts.

Also, I would like to feature the project in an upcoming session that would be open to members of the user group, using something like Zoom or Google Hangouts so you can present on it and share more broadly. I'd like to schedule that for sometime in June.

I hope your exams are going well.

Best,

Merrilee
