Ahlan,

Houssem, is there an update? Deadline is in 2 days. We can add QR plates and see their answer later.

If you don't have a specialist, just put TBD (to be determined).
I can review the application.

Hi again,

Thanks for the guidance Helmi.

I was checking the Facebook page and noticed that some of our members are members there also. Can anyone of you guys give the workshop?

Have a good night all.

Ahlan,

You don't need to be a specialist. Just a project manager. Contact OSM Tunisia (see first email) , tell them we need 1 person to offer workshops. Pay that person and include it in your budget. It's an opportunity for the group to learn how to map. Please send the the request if you want to review it.

I can only send you powerpoints about how to link wikidata/wikipedia with OSM. That's the only thing I know.

If you can't find someone from Tunisia, I can put you in contact with OSM-Montreal for a skype workshop.  But keep it as a plan B or even C. Just start first by filling up the application.

Possible expenses, see below. But the most important it to buy GPS devices, that we can use later for other projects.

For plates, you need to contact the grants team.

What if I have more questions?
Email microgrants@hotosm.org

What costs are eligible?

This will be determined on a grant-by-grant basis, and could include, but are not limited to:

Equipment such as GPS devices, phones, laptops and other technical resources
Operations costs such as transportation, internet connectivity and meeting/working space rental
Additional eligible costs could include field or technical leadership/management training for key community leaders
If funding permits, costs of pursuing legal registration may also be eligible, as well as volunteer mapathon organization costs for leaders in North America and Europe who organize significant remote mapping events.

Hi

Thanks Helmi for sharing this with us and thank you Houcem for suggesting I apply for the grant.

Honeslty, I have no idea on how OSM works. I am not even a member of the community so not sure if I can apply.

I would love to get the grant to add geolocalisations of the monuments, but for sure I don't know how to do it or train people to do so.

I can take care of organizing the workshops (logistics), but not more. If you can apply for the grant Houcem, I would love to work on that with you.

And a question: Can we use the money to make the QRpedia plaques?

Have a nice day all,

Houssem

Hi Everyone,

HOT is excited to announce the launch of the 2019 HOT Microgrants program! This year, we will be awarding Microgrants between $2,000-$5,000 for 8-10 communities throughout the world to reduce barriers and scale their mapping activities and impact. Applications for the 2019 Microgrants program are due by February 28 at 12midnight EST and can be found using this link. <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xTO-KK5zjrbdOOh1yGhZ1vmWwDUZgdmEePT9RiNS5KQ/edit>

We especially encourage communities from the Caribbean, Middle East, North Africa, and Asia to apply, as well as those communities looking to diversify their mappers (gender balance, age, socioeconomic status, etc.), in order to continue expanding the global mapping community. Before submitting your application, ensure that you coordinate with other mapping communities in your country/region, finding opportunities for collaboration where possible and minimizing the number of applications that propose the same mapping project. For more information about the HOT Microgrants program and to see the application review criteria, please check the HOT blog<https://www.hotosm.org/updates/2019-hot-microgrants-program-empowering-local-openstreetmap-communities/>.

Please forward this information along to any other individuals and communities you believe would make excellent candidates for this opportunity. Any questions can be sent to microgrants@hotosm.org<mailto:microgrants@hotosm.org> or directly to me at this email address. Please allow 24-48 hours for a member of our team to reply.

Best,

Jessica
