Hi folks,
We've been invited to give a presentation at the North Beach branch of the SF Public Library! It is pretty open ended, and up to us to ultimately determine what we want to do or present. So far, the librarian we are working with has suggested *a presentation on what it means to be a Wikipedia editor, along with information on how people can get involved and start editing themselves*. This is likely to be more of an audience/panel discussion and less of an edit-a-thon type setup.
*I'm looking for 1-3 volunteers from our group* to contribute to bringing this to life. I will be the main point of contact for the library and handle all communication with them. I will also create a loose presentation deck around the topics mentioned above, but with plenty of opportunity for input and slides contributed by one of you lovely volunteers. The bare minimum would be to simply show up and make yourself available for Q&A.
This will be sometime between 2-4 months from now, on a Tuesday evening (probably 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM or similar).

I might be available. I'm currently applying for Icelandic citizenship via parliamentary decree, and they usually grant those in the last week of the session (before summer break), which was supposed to end on June 13. But due to the (still-ongoing) longest parliamentary debate in history https://www.althingi.is/thingstorf/thingmalalistar-eftir-thingum/ferill/156/351/, they haven't done that yet.

Would love to have you join us! Just so everyone knows, I'm not picturing any limit to the number of people we can have on the panel. 3 person panel? Great! 8 person panel? No problem. The more people we have, the more diverse perspectives we can represent, for example from a high school student as you mentioned Nathan. There also may be something of a "meet and greet a Wikipedian" time at the end, so even if you don't want to sit on an "official panel" in the front of the room, you could wear a badge or name tag that lets people know they can come up and talk to you.

We've booked and confirmed the date for our event at the North Beach location of the SF Public Library! It's going to be:
*Tuesday, October 7, 2025* *6:00 PM - 7:30 PM* *San Francisco Public Library, North Beach branch* *850 Columbus Avenue San Francisco, CA 94133*
Here's the event description that I submitted:
*The Life of a Wikipedia Editor, and How You Can Join!* *Sit with a panel of experienced Wikipedia editors as they discuss some of the rewards and challenges of contributing to the online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. There will be tips on how you can get involved and make your first edits, as well as plenty of time for both structured Q&A and informal meet and greet.*
So far we've got a few yes's and a few maybe's from people on the list. The more the merrier! If you can't contribute slides or don't want to be on the panel for Q&A, you can still come to be part of the informal meet and greet, or just to lend moral support.
As the date gets closer, I'll start a separate private thread with everyone who has expressed interest. There's still room though, so feel free to email me directly or respond here if you're starting to get curious.
