Hi everyone!
Wikipedia Day was so much fun! Special thanks to:
- Elan and Loren for helping set up everything
- Travis for greeting everyone at the door
- Lodewijk and Richard for managing to sign up new editors despite the IP block (OF COURSE our IP got blocked in the week leading to Wikipedia Day, or where would be the fun)
- Elan for organizing a Wikicommons contest
- Jonathan for the teeshirt/merch/poster design
February is a super busy month! I posted all this on the meetup and bawug page, but here's the roundup:
- February 13, 2025: Monthly meetup, where we will distribute the prizes for the Wiki Commons Photo Contest, 2025 Bay Area.
- February 14, 2025: Wikipedians are invited to join Stanford's workshop on using Wikimedia projects to improve the reliability of LLMs. Read more information about their research and the overall research project. Email me if you want more info.
- February 14-16, 2025: WikiCredCon is happening at the Internet Archive
Why is everything happening on the span of four days? Bad timing, all events have different organizers. As a reminder, the meetup is happening every second Thursdays of the month. We might move to a different location in March to be closer to Bart and not overlap with classes using heavy and loud machinery!
Also, if anyone wants a wikipedia day teeshirt but didn't make it there: please bring a teeshirt to our February meetup and we will screenprint it for you!Cheers,
Emelinne & Elan
