If those of you that have called/visited like it (the womens building), then
I'm all for rolling with it. The only worry I have is our ability to secure
funding. It is a fair amount of money for one weekend, just for the space.

Hi all,
Here's an update on the status of West Coast WikiConference planning! This
is part 1: about the venue. I'll be sending Part 2: about the budget soon.
After doing a fair amount of online research into various venues, last
month during our meeting a small group of us went to tour the Women's
Building in the Mission District of SF. It seems like an appropriately
sized, affordable and fun space that could work well for us. Eugene called
them and put a hold in for the days of Jan 15 & 16, but haven't put a
deposit down.
VENUE VOTE:
Since we don't have a "planning committee" per se can everyone interested
in WikiConf planning check out the details on the venue page:
http://2011.westcoastwikicon.org/wiki/Venue
And indicate if you are ok with using the Women's Building, or if you have
objections? If there seems to be consensus I think we should go ahead with
declaring this our venue so we can start making other plans.
best,
Phoebe

A good reminder: I followed up with both The
Women's Building and The
California Endowment, and updated the wiki accordingly:

The short summary: TCE is out, but The Women's Building is still in,
and they have us tentatively down for January 15 and 16 (although we
have to put down a $700 deposit to make it official).
Steven, any updates on the East Bay Community Foundation building?

We need to schedule a meeting.
We have some stuff to discuss with the WikiConference West Coast. It's
now late August, and January is just around the corner.
I'm sure there are some other things we can talk about too, perhaps
discuss the WikiConference NYC, and how it wen this time? :)
Maybe we should meet up in the East Bay. How does Berkeley sound?
