Hello all,

I am very pleased to invite you to a couple inaugural edit-a-thons at the UC Davis library. Have you ever wanted to hang out in a great research library and edit articles? Well, now you can!

Details:
Wikipedia editing workshops and edit-a-thons at UC Davis!
Wiki page and signup:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GLAM/University_of_California_Davis_Libraries/Events

Location and logistics:
Both workshops will be held at the UC Davis Shields Library [main library], Library Instruction Lab.
Theme:
Edit whatever you like of course, but there's a (preliminary) theme of "exploring California food, wine and farming..." -- UC Davis is the best agricultural school in the country, with specialty library collections in everything related to food and wine. Come take advantage of them! We also have very good collections in many other areas as well. Remote participants are welcome to send reference requests :)

Publicity:
I will send out reminders closer to the event, and set up Facebook events etc. But especially if you know editors or potential future editors in the region (Davis/Sacramento) please help spread the word... I know there's a bunch of us out here, but we've not had formal meetups. So I would appreciate help with publicity!

What is this again?
Come learn how to edit Wikipedia! The first part of the session will introduce the edit-a-thon and include a short class for new and beginning editors in how Wikipedia works and how to get started (experienced editors should feel free to just start editing). The next part will be a hands-on workshop devoted to improving articles using UC Davis library resources, with a special focus on California food, wine and farming. Bring your Wikipedia questions and topics that you are interested in working on (you don't need to be an expert!). Drop in anytime during the event.

cheers,
-- Phoebe
