RCC 2008 (which wasn't "Wikimedia", but Wiki's in general) was hosted at a private wiki-company.  One of the previous meetings was also done at the Internet Archive (I wasn't there).  So, I personally have no problem with meeting in a private space.  Most of our meetups are on weekends - which maybe a problem for companies though.

Are you open to the idea of a private/corporate space?  My workplace
(Metaweb, who run http://freebase.com/, which uses Wikipedia heavily)
recently hosted an OpenStreetMap event during Where 2.0, and I'm
pretty sure would be open to the idea of hosting Wikimedians.  We have
meeting room facilities (projectors, etc), tables, chairs, comfy seats
and sofas, kitchen space, etc.  It's downtown near Montgomery BART.
