Det er litt krøkete å få ut informasjon til både bokmål, nynorsk og
samisk Wikipedia - og alle de andre prosjektene, så jeg kommer til å gi
felles informasjon på denne lista. I første omgang kommer jeg til å gi
all info om fremdrift i samarbeidet med Retriever på den her mailinglista.
Fordi Wikipedia på bokmål er den største så kommer jeg til å legge ut
noen notiser på Tinget, men da blir alt publisert parallelt her.
Under testing så vil jeg bruke bokmål da jeg har adminrettigheter på det
prosjektet. Dette er ofte en nødvendighet når det skrives kode og gjøres
endringer i Mediawiki-rommet.

Hvis vi for eksempel gjør som tysk Wikipedia og lar noen publisere
utdrag fra Wikipedia og bruker merkevarenavn i en slik produksjon, hva
skal kriteriene være? WM Norge er de som skal forvalte disse
rettighetene i Norge, men så langt har få sagt noe om hva som menes om
dette.
Jeg vil tro at det finnes noe informasjon om hvordan andre
lokalavdelinger setter slike grenser, noen som kjenner til dette? Og
hvordan skal vi tolke slike forespørsler?

Som nok de fleste har fått med seg så har ikke Wikimedia Norge noen
sponsor, og dermed står vi på bar bakke økonomisk. Det er diskutert tre
alternativer for å få inn penger. Alle forutsetter at registreringer osv
er i orden, men det er ikke tema for denne e-posten.
1. Medlemskontingent. Vi har ikke så mange som har sagt seg villig til å
bli medlemmer, og størrelsen på kontingenten er satt av stiftelsesmøtet
slik at den vil dekke portoutgifter og litt til. Antall aktive er
estimert til ca 400 og protokollen fra stiftelsesmøtet sier
«Kontingenten fastsettes til 200,- kroner. 100,- for studenter,
arbeidsledige, skoleelever og trygdede.» Med litt god vilje snakker vi
om NOK 40-80 000.
2. Kronerulling. Det finnes en del store aktører i mediebransjen som er
blitt avhengig av oss, og muligens kan disse være villig til å støtte
oss. Det har imidlertid vist seg vanskelig å få disse i tale. Et
arbeidsutkast la opp til 5, 10 og 25 000 for henholdsvis lokalaviser,
regionaviser og riksaviser. Det er antatt at vi kan få dette i siget,
men det forutsetter at vi får noen til å starte.
3. Søknader om økonomisk støtte. Hvis vi skal søke om økonomisk støtte
så må vi henge dette opp i konkrete prosjekter. Uten at det er koblet
til prosjekter er sjansen for å få gjennomslag svært liten. Så langt har
vi ingen aktuelle prosjekter, selv om det finnes flere gode innspill.
Gjensidige deler ut penger, DnBNOR deler ut penger, Fritt ord deler ut
penger. I tillegg så er det kommet mange gode ord fra flere hold, også
statlig og halvstatlig hold, men få har villet konkretisere dette.
Hvis noen har gode innspill om hvordan vi kommer videre så tror jeg at
jeg har styret i Wikimedia Norge med meg når jeg sier vi vil se seriøst
på alle forslag, kanskje med unntak av å selge roser på Karl Johan.

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership to the Wikimedia

JOB SUMMARY
You will have responsibility for all mission-furthering program work of the
Wikimedia Foundation. This is a broad scope, covering all areas of
organizational activity except finance and administration, and technology.
The Wikimedia Foundation aims to increase the overall reach of its projects,
to broaden participation, and to increase quality. As Chief Program Officer,
you will be the person primarily responsible for moving these goals forward.
You will also be responsible for media relations and other communications
activities, both externally and internally.
The Wikimedia Foundation is an unusual organization, with an extremely small
staff supporting and facilitating the work of a global community of tens of
thousands of active volunteers. This role requires a high degree of
flexibility and creativity, and a collaborative and inventive orientation.
The successful candidate will be mission-driven and passionate about the
idea of creating free, multilingual educational material for people
everywhere in the world. A desire for real-world impact is critical to

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and implement a strategic plan for the program area, with the
goals of increasing reach, broadening participation and increasing quality
in Wikipedia and its sister projects;
* Lead the program team, including goals development, coaching,
performance assessment, and the identification and filling of skills and
capacity gaps;
* Develop and implement scalable mechanisms for encouraging, facilitating
and rewarding the work of the Wikimedia volunteers. This will include the
development and administration of an experimental small-grant-making
process;
* Identify and recruit key institutional partners who can help us reach
our goals;
* Work closely with the fundraising team to develop project concepts;
* Oversee the execution of projects including those funded by grants,
working closely as required with the program staff, volunteers, technical
team and others;
* Participate in the Wikimedia Foundation's strategic planning processes,
including program budget development and management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* A history of leadership experience in increasingly responsible
positions, ideally including management of teams of 10+ people;
* Experience developing and implementing strategies and plans, and
ideally also overseeing large initiatives;
* Experience hiring and developing staff, coaching, evaluating
performance, setting goals and measuring success;
* Experience in the non-profit sector, ideally including experience
developing grant proposals;
* Basic technical understanding is a requirement, ideally including
experience with online production principles and practices;
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal
skills are a must;
* Experience working with or as part of large volunteer communities is a
major plus;
* Understanding of the open source and free culture communities is a
major plus;
* Experience with any of the following is a plus: user testing, audience
research, events management, marketing, product development;
* International work experience is a major plus, as is the ability to
speak languages in addition to English;
* Must be able to work well with people with a very wide diversity of
demographic and cultural characteristics;
