This is a quick notice to remind all interested parties that the bidding for Wikimania 2009 (note, *not* next year, but just in under two years' time) will begin shortly after the conclusion of the Wikimania 2008 bid process, based on our experiences of the process this time around.
We expect to finalize the bidding process by the end of the year 2007, and that the city to host Wikimania 2009 will ideally be chosen by 15 December 2007 at the latest.
Anyone who would be interested in hosting Wikimania in 2009 is strongly advised to start the process informally now so as to best prepare.
The exact composition of the Jury will likely change, but the process will stay the same.

I certainly endorse the idea of making earlier selections of the Wikimania sites to allow longer-term advance planning. On the other hand, it may not make a lot of sense for people to start putting much time into planning 2009 bids until the winner for 2008 is selected. E.g., if Atlanta is selected for 2008, then probably no U.S. city should bother putting in a bid for 2009, and so no one is going to start planning (hypothetical example) New York 2009 until the 2008 location is announced, and so on. Does the schedule take this into account?

As long as "the conclusion of the Wikimania 2008 bid process" means after the selection, which I expect it does, then it should be fine.
