Hello all, There is a new internship opportunity in the Community Engagement department for a Technical Design Intern. We are looking for a candidate who works and/or studies in the field of computer science and information systems, has experience in advanced wiki markup and design skills for web, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, among other qualifications. Knowledge and or experience with Wikimedia Projects a plus! The Technical Design Intern will work closely with the Communications and Outreach Coordinator (that would be me!) on the Wikimedia Resource Center, the redesign of the Evaluation Portal on Meta Wikimedia, and migration and archiving of L&E portal pages from existing namespaces to new namespace, among other tasks. Hi Maria, Can we get an update from someone about WMF about work on Portals in general? I believe there is, or is planned, a Discovery portal, a Research portal, an Evaluation portal, and a general-purpose Community portal. I heard that some work was paused while different teams were syncing their plans for portals, and that was awhile ago. Can we get a comprehensive update about portals? Also, I'd be interested to know what the goals are for the Evaluations portal, and potential interns might want to know as well. Do you have mockups of what you're hoping to develop? Thanks! The resources on Outreach Wikimedia are, in turn, organized in different portals as well, on a different Wikimedia project. All of these are known issues, and this is why we proposed to develop the Wikimedia Resource Center, a hub that can improve findability of resources.
