On one of the earlier iterations (I think it was a group to establish UCoC, for which there were no cross-project elections) I expressed my interest and got a e-mail back that I was not selected because I do not have enough experience. I am administrator on four projects, also crat on two of them, and I have some ArbCom experience (and I speak five languages). Now I am not really surprised by this kind of things anymore, but I got enough demotivation to keep clear of this activity for the rest of my life.
