I don't think it's really a matter of transparency and openness - they
announced the hire, just not the plan to hire, I don't have any great
problem with that. What seems unwise to me is that they appear to have
hired someone without interviewing anyone else for the position (at
least, I don't remember seeing an advert for the position). If they
didn't consider anyone else, then how do we know Erik is the best
person for the job?
Please keep in mind that the head of staff, with authority to hire or
fire staff, and negotiate all employement details, is now Sue. Not the
board. The board has authority over Sue. Sue has authority over the
staff. Pyramidal organization.
