Dear all,

Wikimedia projects would not be possible without the work of the countless volunteers, passionately working on bringing free knowledge to the world. Through the year we WikiCelebrate different volunteers and their amazing work.[1]

This time we celebrate Ellie, a Wikimedian from El Salvador. There are many reasons to celebrate Ellie, a person who is not only enriching Spanish Language Wikipedia content related to notable women from El Salvador, organizes  events and activities with Wikimedistas El Salvador, but also supports people who want to join our movement. She helps newcomers to understand Wikipedia rules and policies. “I am happy editing but I am also happy teaching others how to edit, to know the platforms and the projects with the purpose of enriching the free knowledge. The most beautiful moments are when I finally publish another article, and when some of the people I have trained at a workshop publish their first article and are encouraged to teach others about the project”, she comments.

Visit WikiCelebrate [2] page to learn more about Ellie and congratulate her. You can also read about her on Diff [3] (the post is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish).

Each month we will celebrate a different Wikimedian, acknowledging the great people that have contributed so much to bringing us to where we are today, and continue to do so. We warmly invite you to write about the people celebrated each month. If you know them, share some wiki love. If there’s an outstanding Wikimedian that you think should be celebrated, recommend them.[4]

Happy celebrating

Giselle and Natalia
