Join us in celebrating Art+Feminism's 10th anniversary on April 15, 2023, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm CDT at the Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church in Houston, alongside a suite of international programming, including both virtual and in-person events.
In partnership with Arte Público Press, Black Lunch Table, and SAID Pan-African Library. The Symposium will explore the transformative potential of collective participation and action as a strategy for empowerment.
Hybrid components include:
- A virtual keynote conversation with Paula Dominguez Font (Wikimedistas de Uruguay) and Mariana Fossatti (Whose Knowledge?).
- A virtual breakout session around Wikipedia y las biografías de personas LGBTT+ guide’s original text and translation with Vic Sfriso (WMAR), Owen Blacker (Wikimedia LGBT+), and Sofia Stanicoff (Art+Feminism).
- A virtual breakout session extending our recent workshop with A+F co-lead organizer, Medhavi Ghandi, “How to make Gifs.” Participants should review the preparation list and join us for an opportunity to remix some of your favorite visual art pieces into gifs.
This all-day celebration will offer editing workshops, art-making opportunities, interactive sessions with local organisers, and much more.
The event is free, open to people of all ages and backgrounds, and includes in-person and virtual programming. Come and join us in commemorating the impact of our dedication to collective action.
