The EduWiki Knowledge Showcase is a space where members of the Wikimedia

include reflections, poems, brief storytelling, or other creative
expressions related to Wikimedia and education. Each contribution should
last *no longer than 5 minutes* and will be presented live during the
showcase.

Dear community members,
I am excited to share the annual report of the Deoband Community Wikimedia
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deoband_Community_Wikimedia> (DCW) for the
year 2025. Please find the activity report here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Deoband_Community_Wikimedia/Reports/Activit…>,
and the brief health report here.
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Affiliates_Strategy/Im…>
To share a few highlights:
1. In 2025, we set up an Executive Board for better decision-making.
The board has 40% female participation.
2. In 2025, two of our volunteers represented at the Wikimedia Youth
Conference in Prague.
3. In 2025, we had a fair representation at the GLAM-Wiki Conference in
Lisbon, Portugal, Wikimania, and several other national events.
4. In 2025, we hosted 12 impactful conversation hours
<https://dcwwiki.org/DCW_Conversation_Hour_Archive> and initiated
Train-a-Wikipedian <https://dcwwiki.org/Train_a_Wikipedian> as our
residential leadership development program.
5. We conducted over 12+ workshops, several meetups, and for the first
time, an annual convening, where we honored our best contributors.
6. Our volunteers contributed over 570 articles, improving many others.
7. We organised three iterations of Heritage Lens
<https://dcwwiki.org/Heritage_Lens>, which helped bring 731 images to
Commons.
There is much more in the reports, and I am hopeful that you will enjoy
reading them. Overall, the year has been a good step forward, and we are
hoping for a better 2026 in terms of advocacy, capacity, and leadership. We
remain committed to our goals and the vision despite facing resource cuts
for our Conversation Hour initiative
<https://dcwwiki.org/DCW_Conversation_Hour> and staffing. We would
appreciate your feedback and look forward to making the year more impactful
with meaningful collaborations and partnerships.
*Thanks and regards,Aafi*
*Imagine a world in which every single human can freely share in the sum of
all human knowledge. This is what we are doing.*
