Resilience to executive orders and American government censorship

Does the Wikimedia foundation have a statement or announcement on any plans they have to ensure Wikipedia still stays accurate and any attempts to remove information in order to comply with any requests by American government won’t happen ? I not that the HQ of Wikipedia is in America and so it would be subject to any executive order request, just as the smithothian museums have been The whole world is watching James

Welcoming Patricio Lorente as Wikimedia Argentina’s New President

Dear Wikimedia Community, We are pleased to announce that Patricio Lorente has been elected as the new President of Wikimedia Argentina for the 2025–2027 term. With over 15 years of leadership within the Wikimedia movement, Patricio brings a great experience to this role, including: - President of Wikimedia Argentina (2007–2012), - Board Member, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Wikimedia Foundation (2012–2016), and - Current member of the Wikimedia Endowment Foundation Board. Patricio's contributions to the global free knowledge movement have earned him wide recognition among the Wikimedia community worldwide. He accepted the *Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation* in 2015 on behalf of the Wikipedia community. Beyond his Wikimedia roles, he holds a PhD in Education Sciences, is the author of 'El conocimiento hereje: Una historia de Wikipedia' (*Heretical knowledge: A history of Wikipedia*), and has been a featured speaker at many international events and conferences. We extend our sincere gratitude to the outgoing President Nicolás Giorgetti and the former Board for their leadership over the past years, particularly in navigating post-pandemic challenges and fostering Wikimedia's Argentina organizational growth. Wikifunctions will be deployed on the Dagbani Wikipedia on April 15!

Dear all, On behalf of the Dagbani Wikimedians user group <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Dagbani_Wikimedians_User_Group>, I am very excited to share some great news with you. The Wikimedia foundations's newest project, Wikifunctions <https://www.wikifunctions.org/>, is finally coming to the Dagbani Wikipedia. On September 13, 2024, the Dagbani Wikipedia was selected as the first Wikipedia for Wikifunctions integration <https://www.wikifunctions.org/wiki/Wikifunctions:Status_updates/2024-09-13> . Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, *April 15*, D <https://dag.wikipedia.org/>agbani Wikipedia <https://dag.wikipedia.org/> editors will be able to call and integrate functions directly into Dagbani Wikipedia articles. This new capability will help volunteers perform tasks such as adding up numbers, converting distances, calculating time differences, or even transforming words into different grammatical cases. All with just a few clicks! Traditionally, these tasks would require complex templates that are tricky to create or import. With Wikifunctions, it's simpler, faster, and automated. Huge thanks to Denny Vrandečić, Luca Martinelli, Sharvani Haran and the rest of the Wikifunctions team for their continued support.
