Pradeep,

thanks for taking the initiative for the newsletter revival. You have realised well in time that activity needs coverage & presentation. Thanks for taking the lead.

Warm regards,

Hi,

I think two things need clarification:
1. Why a newsletter?

2. And why I am against titles.

The newsletter is basically covering topics related to WikiProject:India (henceforth WP:India). A summary of the various team's work, an announcement, a call for help, an achievement of DYK or FA or GA or the recent Tag & Assess drive etc. It's a way of letting people within WP:India know that these are happening. The newsletter or the link to the newsletter is delivered by a bot (a work that was done by Tinucherianbot) to the WP:India member's talk pages and is one of the ways to connect and get to know of things if you missed it elsewhere. Hence, the newsletter. Find the working copy of the newsletter here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_India/Outreach/Newsletter/April_2012

Having worked in and currently working in an hierarchy, and having sympathies for the Communist movement, I do not like titles (working or otherwise). We worked hard enough to abolish many of them. Also, on Wikipedia, where everyone is to be equal, the creation of title is and has been creating rifts (creating two class of editors) and under-currents that I have experienced. It's best for Wikipedians to work on what they like, interact on talk pages and lead or follow certain consensus decisions.

While I appreciate that we're trying to revive WP:India to its heydays, I think we should not fall into these pits.

I would like to inform the broad community of more glad tidings - we have two more volunteers who have agreed to coordinate WikiProjects. These are:

* Wikipedia:WikiProject Transport in India - User:Rsrikanth05

* Volunteer coordinator for the Newsletter of WikiProject India - User:Prad2609 (who doesn't really like titles) :).

We welcome them to their new responsibilities and they are now proud members of a select club indeed - people who have publicly volunteered to look after an area of responsibility on WikiProject India.

Please welcome them on their talk pages and not on the list(s).

We would like to remind readers that we are constantly looking for editors to help with the various departments and task forces. There are more than seventy more areas needing looking after. And if the project you are interested in already has one, welcome to it - we need lots of dedicated voluntees per department or task force not just one.

Warm regards,

AshLin
