Hello fellow Indian Wikimedians,

Some of you may already be familiar with the WikiCup on the English Wikipedia. For those who aren't: It's a content creation contest where editors bring Wikipedia articles up to a high quality, take them through the good article (GA) or featured article (FA) review process, and earn points when they are promoted.

This year, starting July, we will see another such contest - but focused only on the developing world. It will be the first edition of... the Developing Countries WikiContest!

Participants who bring articles and lists from developing countries to "Good" or "Featured" status, or present a fact from them in the "Did You Know" section of the English Wikipedia front page, will be awarded points, and they will climb a Leaderboard and compete with other editors for the top prize.

Not just article writers - participants who conduct GA and FA reviews of articles from developing countries will also be given points.

Even if you are only a photographer, you can earn points by taking your picture through the "featured picture" process!

I invite everyone in these mailing lists to participate. Append your name to the signups page today!

Kind regards ~~~~
