Subject: Collaborating on Digital/New Media in Ghana Wikipedia Article
Date: Fri, 22 Feb 2013 16:55:00 +0000
Hello Blogging Ghana,
As I informed you earlier, we should collaborate on a
Wikipedia article concerning our new media.
Those that are interested in collaborating on a Wikipedia
article to capture Ghana’s progress and beginnings in Digital/online/new media
may proceed to create Wikipedia user accounts here.
Also, we need a title that will cover the intended scope.
Digital Media in Ghana, Online Media in Ghana, New Media in Ghana? Which is
better?Digital Media is so broad we could even add the digital billboards
but I doubt we want to go there. Online Media seems somewhat narrow so I
decided on New Media until we all come to another agreement that it should
change.
If anyone has an introductory paragraph ready, sign in I started the article here.
Let this article on new media itself guide us
(not limit us though) click edit and just go to the back-end and see things for
yourself.
I have added an image. Images can include infographics and
so on. The Apple fan boys can also get pictures of people using macs after all
we want the truth told about consumer electronics use in Ghana as far as new
media is concerned.
I will advice that any tech company wishing to be mentioned
should go about adding their names and activities with discretion. The format
of writing should be encyclopedic not marketing.
I also think Ghana Decides will need a subsection of its
own. As such, if the GD team is interested, they should create an account,
upload some pictures of people engaged in GD activities and release those
pictures under Creative
Commons license preferably with attribution.
There is also a Wikipedia training on the 2nd of
March and if anyone is interested in attending, let me know. There will be free
internet available just bring your tablet or laptop. There are two spots left.
After the article is up, those that enjoyed editing and
contributing are welcome to join Planning Wikimedia Ghana. People already
exposed to social media make the best of members. We would love to have you on
board.
Regards,Sandister Tei
