Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photo contest for monuments, organized by Wikimedia Communities across the world around September each year. This year Ghana joins the world to organize the contest that seeks to preserve Cultural Heritage through pictures, which is an important part of the knowledge Wikipedia collects and disseminates.

 Everybody can contribute images as well as write articles. An image is worth a thousand words and this is universal irrespective of where you are geo-located. This is an opportunity for indigenes, local enthusiasts, tourists, etc. to (re)discover the cultural, historical, or scientific significance of these monuments in their communities or country.

This year, the contest spans 1st - 30th September, 2016. There will be a series of activities, including individual uploading to the contest (spanning the duration of the campaign),  three (3) photo-expeditions and 2 upload session/edit-a-thon scheduled for 3rd, 10th, 17th, 21st & 24th. The three photo-expeditions will cover the regions that has most of their monuments uncovered and the upload/edit-a-thons session will afford many the opportunity to upload the pictures taken while we try to put articles or improve already existing articles about the various scenery visited.

Below is the schedule;

Will send further arrangements  plans for each activity by the weekend and please be informed that space is limited for each trip so it will be on a first come first serve basis.
