Wikimedia Foundation the parent of Wikipedia recognises that there are fewer women editing the wikis. Read about it
here. You can also google the issue, there are many news analysis on it.
To fix this, people within the WMF community are embarking on funded projects. Some of our members
participated and have been selected to do a project called
WikiNeedsGirls.
Tip
You can also start
individual projects. So get involved in the group and the global community, hear what is going on and be proactive in your editing as well, because to embark on wiki based project, you'll have to know how to use these wikis.
