I'm a freelance journalist/public relations & social media specialist
Presenting a positive image of wikiGH to the publics is my utmost priority, am also responsible for ensuring that both wiki and non wiki related communications involving WikiGH is properly parsed and above all, that we remain in a very cordial relationship with all our existing and potential partners who directly or indirectly assist us with our quest to ensure free and accurate knowledge/information about Ghana is shared on all the wikis.
Joining Wikimedia Ghana was important for me simply because I believed in its core purpose of increasing knowledge and content of and about Ghana on the wikis that will go a long way in making people finding them easily discover them and trust in their authenticity. The core finding members and also those that later joined are very inspirational and dedicated to the vision of wikiGH and that alone was inspiring for me to want to become a part of history in the making so yes, I couldn't resist the urge to join.
News about wiki Indaba reached me both via the online mailing list of wikiGH and organizers of that rather historic event that sought to assemble wikipedians across the African continent to forge ways in which they could better present the continent on the global encyclopedia positively and accurately. As PRO of wikiGH, I saw an opportunity to spread word about the organization of that event and to also use the knowledge obtained from it in my small way to further champion the causes of wikiGH even though I was not able to personally attend it in South Africa due to personal preoccupations.
The future looks bright for WikiGH and how I see myself in that future is through my ability to keep spreading the word about wikipedia in general and how Ghana as a nation and Africa as a continent stand to benefit from properly taking advantage of all the resources of this global online encyclopedia to tell the story of the continent from a very African and accurately researched perspective.
Despite all the chaos and unfortunate occurrences connected to African teams at the ongoing football (soccer) World cup that put Ghana in the spotlight for some rather unsavory reasons like the $3M saga, I still think Ghana made a good attempt to keep the spirit of Africa alive in the World Cup and one positive and rather history achievement from Ghana was chalked by Asamoah Gyan--captain of the national team of Ghana. Gyan became the all time top scoring African at the FIFA World Cup when he scored a series of goals in Brazil 2014 to break that long standing record previously held by Roger Milla of Cameroon. As a PRO of wikiGH, I intend to make sure that this rather historical feat is appropriately recorded by a member editor from Ghana on the wiki profile of Asamoah Gyan and pray that Africa's performance by her respective countries give wikimedians across the continent reasons to want to update the historical records of both teams and players that attended Brazil 2014 in the global encyclopedia. Who knows, maybe before 2020 an African team might either win or place among the top four finalist at a FIFA world cup, but till then we will keep straight the cause to spread free and accurate knowledge on the global encyclopedia while recruiting more editors to assist with this all important task.
Sincerely,
