Good morning.

Thanks, Enoch and Justice for your suggestion(s). Since not all group members seem to be on the mailing list, I will post your suggestions on the Whatsapp group page and see if anyone else has any other suggestions. Thereafter, I guess we'll come to a consensus as to the way forward.
Enjoy the rest of your day, guys.

Regards,
Georgina.

For me, in celebration, I visit the ak.wikipedia.org project, and do some translations i.e medical articles etc.

I did one about Malaria some time back. I hope to continue.

I think I side with Enock we can use this opportunity to organise and edit-a-thon and work on all political related posts about the elections and a possible create new accounts for notable politicians. And during the edit session we can do a little celebration if we have the means.

Also we can start a social media campaign where everyone who is part of WMGH preaches why they are grateful to Wikipedia and recommend same to others with the hashtag #Wikipedia16.

We can be a bit creative about it by using influencers online who are part of WMGH.

What can we do?

I suggest an edit-a-thon. It can be joined remotely or physically to put politics and elections in Ghana on Wikipedia to good shape.

I don't see much done by us these days on Wikipedia.

Best,

- Enock

Hello all.

Sunday January 15, 2017 is Wikipedia day – the wiki's 16th birthday!

Last year we had a party. This year we can try something different. Any ideas? You can share with the community.

Please try and nominate people for the awards. See forwarded email below.

2016 end of year awards for outstanding members

Please check this page and leave your nominations there. See the End of the year award section.

– What do you want the user group to focus on in 2017?

For example in 2016 the focus was on Wikipedia. You can also use this opportunity to capture your needs as a member by requesting the group to focus on things that'll meet your needs.

Share them here.

– Confirm your 2017 membership

It's usually a practice to have a public list of user group members. Since 2012, people have joined the group but we have never heard of them during events, elections etc.

Please put your name on the 2017 list here if you still are with us and wish to declare it. Just add your username is ok (privacy issues). In case anyone especially from the global community (or anyone) wants to contact you (in the capacity of a Wikimedia Ghana User Group member), they can easily find your user talk page via this list.
