Hello friends!We have been quiet for a while. But with the coming Election 2012, we can embark on some useful projects and collaborations to contribute what we can as knowledge/content creators.
It will also be easy to ride on the wave of the political fever in the country to edit and contribute massively to Ghanaian content especially those covering politics and development relevant to December 7. For those who desire to contribute and edit wikis but haven't been able to, this is your time to participate.
I propose a project: #Wiki4Election2012Gh (#Wi4EGh) The hash tag speaks for itself. The campaign simply involves editing and creating Wikipedia articles and curating photographs for Wikimedia Commons that will profile political parties, competing politicians (flag-bearers and MPs alike) and constituencies. Basically summed up as Know Your Political Parties (#KOPP), Know Your Politicians (#KOP), Know Your Constituencies (#KOC)
We want the electorate to see for themselves the situation on the ground. If we can we will obtain photos from years back, not only current ones. We will entertain no biases.
Via Wikinews we should also publish every breaking news and election results.
We should also let the WMF know our progress by sending reports to the Sign Post and Wikimedia blog.
Things Needed:
Official letters to political parties to provide all necessary info on politicians to be used in Wikipedia Articles
Press release of the project
Edithons
Internet for edithons
A place for edithons
Bloggers for Wikimedia blog
Writers for Wikinews
Volunteers for articles and uploads
Incentives for volunteers
Funds for the project
We need collaboration with a news website
We also need advertisement, letting Ghanaians know that such educational resources for elections are available so they visit the pages and inform themselves with the information.
So who is up for some history making, mark making, mother Ghana serving, educational project? Get back to me or Rexford and let's know who we can count on for anyform of support.
