Yes, it was protected only for a week as far as I know. I have no idea why it wasn't protected for indefinite .

I'm personally not requesting for protection of it any more. If someone will even go delete all the content in there, I don't care.

After all, its bigger than some articles protected indefinitely, and if admins consider it not to be protected-worthy, there's not much I can personally do about that.

At least, that's what we all should expect if no African is an admin.
