The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE)[1], Linux Accra Users Group (LAUG)[2] and Internet Society Ghana Chapter (ISOC Ghana)[3]  are pleased to request your partnership and sponsorship for this year’s Software Freedom Day event in Ghana scheduled for Saturday September 21, 2019 on the theme, “Innovation, AI & Open Source Technologies”.

Software Freedom Day (SFD)[4] is an annual global grassroots effort to educate the public on the virtues of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and also to encourage its use. SFD is expected to attract about 1000 participants physically and virtually via online platforms.

This year’s event will be hosted in 3 locations Accra, Bolgatanga and Sunyani and will include hands-on training, plenary, breakout sessions and workshops, convening in-person and virtual participants from across the continent and global stakeholders and influencers. 

Participants will include government leadership, civil servants, private enterprises, IT organizations, researchers,entrepreneurs, innovators and students.

Activities for the celebration include:

  • Creating awareness about the potential of open source technology for education, business and national development

  • Discussions on prospects of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cryptocurrency for Ghana

  • Teaching participants to install various Linux distributions

  • Exhibiting open source projects and innovations

  • Geospatial technology, UAVs (drones), cyber security, photography and many more
