Dupont Circle sounds like a good idea, as the red line (e.g. union
station) has been agreeable in the past.

Dupont Circle is easy enough to get to. The only question is, does anyone know of places there that are both reasonably priced and big enough? I remember the time we went to Skewers, and that was pretty pricey.
