On 14 February, 2022, Creative Commons launched the Open Culture Remix Art Contest. We are pleased to invite all Wikimedians, including the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia Chapters and Wikimedia Communities, to participate in this contest and promote it widely in your circles. 

This contest’s main goal is to encourage visual artists to create new art by remixing existing public domain or CC-BY licensed cultural heritage from open access collections. 

With this competition, we celebrate GLAMs’ (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) freely available heritage collections and their reuse potential for contemporary creativity and the dissemination and revitalization of culture. 

To make it easier for potential entrants to find and use creative works from heritage collections, Creative Commons maintains a list of GLAM institutions that steward public domain works and/or works available under a CC-BY license. Please feel free to suggest institutions for the list by using this form.
