Hello Amanda,
I crafted an email to the Cascadia listserv with a few details and responses to talk about
the editing event. I also wanted to introduce you and reaffirm autonomy about the event
motivation as a Feminism+Wikipedia edit-a-thon. I'd like to send this out to Cascadia
listserv and hoped I could run it by you first regarding the introduction and tone. Thanks
for your quick read through!
All the best, Monika.

Dear Cascadians --
We probably should coordinate with Portland / Another
Believer. He has proposed a March: ArtAndFeminism, Portland
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cascadia_Wikimedians#Possible_calendar
A Portland event on ArtAndFeminism in March sounds great.
The Feminism+Wikipedia Edit-a-thon could be understood as a complementary event to
ArtAndFeminism. If there is a desire among this group to have the UW edit-a-thon folded
into a more established initiative, I would propose GLAM, but with the focus as
Feminism+WIkipedia GLAM edit-a-thon. The UW Commons librarians have been incredibly eager
to collaborate as a part of their outreach effort. A Special Collections librarian is
likely to speak at the opening, highlighting what's unique to their collections as is
relevant for feminist research for a public knowledge project. Three members of Commons
team have also volunteered to staff the event. This could give the event some
visibility/traction as a part of bigger campaign.
The event will be in February, either Feb. 14or the 21, as this is when the UW Commons
team is available. If there is not significant opposition by this group, I suggest the
14th for symbolic purposes ~ <3 ~ (and have preliminarily penciled this in):
You can find more details on the Cascadia Meta page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cascadia_Wikimedians#Drafting_programs…
I'm also very pleased to share that Amanda Menking will be a part of the organizing
team. For those of you who haven't met her, Amanda (mssemantics) is a doctoral student
at the UW Information School researching gender and social computing. She is also a
Wikimedia Individual Engagement Project grant recipient.
Thanks again all so far for your continued enthusiasm. Please let me know if you have
further questions or concerns. I look forward to being in touch in the coming weeks via
email/wikipedia pages as plans solidify.
On a personal note, I will be away during the 2nd & possibly the 4th weekend in
March. I would love to help with either edit-a-thon if they fall in February, the 1st or
3rd weekends in March, or April (pending my oncall schedule).
Would be glad to have you be a part of Feminism+Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in February,
Peaceray. :)
All the best for the holiday season, Cascadia!
Best,
Monika

FYI, one possible option is to align it with the ArtAndFeminism wiki-campaign, which is
running in March (though February woild work as well):

Hello Cascadia Wikipedians,
Earlier this fall we discussed a feminism and Wikipedia editathon at UW. I'd like to
nail down a date for this so I've created a doodle with a few time and two different
Saturday options that work for the UW commons team. If you could take a minute to respond
here, it would be great to have your participation as seasoned editors.

See you soon,
Thanks!
