I guess here's what I'm looking for answers to:

1. Is anybody interested in contributing to this kind of project, or should I just stick to doing it by myself (probably on Flickr)?
2. Would anyone object to my launching a private wiki on the grounds that this could eventually be done by WMC in a more official fashion?

I'll probably send out something on commons-l about this -- but that depends on the answer to #2.
