Hi everyone,
We have two volunteers to represent the New England Wikimedians at the 2016
Wikimedia Conference: Gabe and Abhishek. We can only send one
representative, so please take a moment to read their information and then
weigh in at the Google survey below with your recommendation as to who
should represent us in Berlin.
Note: To vote, we request that you have demonstrated some activity with our
group within the past four (4) years, either in person or online, and that
the New England Wikimedians is your primary local Wikimedia affiliation.
For your vote to be counted, you must respond to the survey with both your
real name and your Wikimedia username. Names will not be used for anything
beyond tallying for this survey.
*Candidates:*
Gabriel Fishman
User:GabrielF <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GabrielF>
I began volunteering on Wikimedia projects in 2004, and, since that time,
I've contributed by writing articles, providing academic sources for other
editors, assisting with college classes, and working on software
development. I'd like to travel to the Wikimedia conference to learn more
about how we can grow the Wikimedia New England group and to learn more
about Wikimedia Germany's software development efforts, particularly
Wikidata.
Abhishek Suryawanshi
User:AbhiSuryawanshi <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:AbhiSuryawanshi>
I will be in the Cambridge area for next two years. This Wikimedia
Conference will help me to understand other chapter/user-group efforts and
programs. I can learn from them and it will enable me to execute our
programs at a better level.

Hi everyone,
The New England Wikimedians user group has been cleared to send a
representative to the 2016 Wikimedia Conference
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Conference_2016> taking place
in April 22-24 in Berlin, Germany. The person who would go on our behalf
would receive travel funding, including flight and accommodations during
the conference. (We are in Group 2 of the specific funding guidelines here

.)
We are looking for a volunteer to represent the NE Wikimedians at this
event. If you are interested, please email me by 11:59 pm on Sunday, Jan
10. Include your name, Wikipedia username, and a 1-2 sentence statement
explaining why you'd like to go. I will announce candidates on Monday, and
we as a group will need to vote on who to send by Thurs., Jan. 14 (info on
the mechanism for voting will be given at that time).
Eligibility: All those who have demonstrated that they are a member of our
group in some way within the past two years, whether attending group
meetings, participating in edit-a-thons, taking part in relevant activity
on the Wikimedia platforms, or similar. Not sure if you qualify? Apply
anyway!
