Yes! And someday I'd like to have a Northeast regional gathering; perhaps we could host at my own esteemed inst of higher learning :)

....but let me get through Wikimania first.

Cheers,
Phoebe

The San Diego thing is not really a regional conference, more like a local Wiknic meetup.  I don't think there are LA people attending even.

There are larger gathering every month or so in NYC and DC, and we'd be glad to welcome you to one.  Maybe we should have more organized Northeast Corridor exchanges?

Thanks,
Pharos

Dear Bostonians,

In lieu of a US Wikiconf (which is happening as a pair of preconf days in Montreal next week!) There is a regional gathering in San Diego, October 6-9.

Information below: it should be a relaxing and energetic time, hosted by the local wikimedian group.

Warmly, SJ

Hello from sunny San Diego - we'd love to have you come visit!

I won't be able to join the call tonight but wanted to make sure we got this invite out to you for our October 6-9 WikiConSoCal. Could you forward this message to anyone in your circles who might be interested?

This year we have an unconventional convening in the Balboa Park museum district of San Diego, and including opportunities to attend and participate in our big San Diego Maker Faire.  We are actively looking for members of the wiki communities to join us, especially wiki community organizers like you!

We'll be hosting Mad Hatter Tea Party Wiknics with family-friendly exploration activities throughout the park, all weekend long. Lots of great opportunities to connect with your fellow wiki peeps, and help us outreach to our very diverse communities. No previous wiki experience necessary, but lots of wiki opportunities ready for newcomers to try.

We're now working even more closely with the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB.org) with plans for including members of our blind communities as volunteers within our events! We're also outreaching into our Latino and other marginalized communities. Striving for radical inclusivity in our volunteer groups. Speak any language besides English? Join our meetup group to learn more: WikiSoCal & Wikimedians of San Diego
