Hi all,

The event page for Wikipedia Takes Boston is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_Boston.  Look there for more details on event rules, etc. in the coming days.

A tentative goal list for places to photograph that day is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Takes_Boston/Goals.  The list includes over 200 places in six different Boston neighborhoods.  I'll be adding more neighborhoods soon.  (Note that this goal list includes all of the places that have coordinates listed in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedia_requested_photographs_in_Suffolk_County,_Massachusetts).

Please sign up on the event page if you're interested in coming!

Best,
Eric

Seconded on Copley Square.  It sounds like a better place to launch the event, for the reason you mention.  We could meet right outside Boston Public Library.

I've been compiling a list of 200+ places in Boston that don't have images on Wikipedia yet.  It's organized by neighborhood and category of place.  I'll send a link to the draft list within the next few days.  If we split up by neighborhood, then we'll get more widespread and efficient coverage of the city and be less likely to have multiple people photographing the same place.

I hope everybody knows about these resources:

and

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http%3A%2F%2Ftoolserver.org%2F~para%2Fcgi-bin%2Fkmlexport%3Farticle%3DCategory%3AWikipedia_requested_photographs_in_Suffolk_County%2C_Massachusetts%26usecache%3D1

The toolserver link can be reached from the category page ("Map of all coordinates from Google").  It works on my iPhone, though the rendering is a little sluggish.  It is positively invaluable for photo-hunting expeditions.
