Dear all,

I'm posting the below on behalf of Dr. Helen Dixon, cc'd, who is organizing an edit-a-thon at her organization's (Society for Biblical Literature) annual conference in Boston on Sunday Nov. 19th. They're looking for people to help out. If you're interested, please get in touch with her directly!

I’m seeking some trainers to assist at a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon we’re organizing at the upcoming (in mid-November) Society for Biblical Literature Annual Meeting in Boston. The idea is to host about 100 people, and train them in editing Wikipedia pages, through a workshop focusing on increasing the representation of female biblical scholars on Wikipedia (and within a ‘happy hour’ setting!).

Some of us have hosted events like this before, and have done some editing, but we’re all pretty basic users, and would love to have some more expert editors either leading the training or just available as roaming helpers. We understand that your expertise deserves compensation—please talk with us about this if you are interested!

The information is as follows:

Wiki, Women, and Bible Workshop and Happy Hour at SBL*

Sunday, November 19   5:30pm – 7:30pm

John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, Room 200 (Second Level)

*Society for Biblical Literature 2017 Annual Meeting

Contact: Helen Dixon, Assistant Professor of Religion at Wofford College, South Carolina (dixonhm@wofford.edu)
