Welcome to our newest staff member!

Wikimedia Australia has hired two new staff who will be starting soon. Ali has started this week as Communications and Projects Coordinator, and Alice will start in September as Education and Projects Coordinator. Both will be working part time. We hope you’ll welcome them warmly.

Craig Franklin Award

The Craig Franklin Award honours Craig Franklin, a generous and prolific Australian Wikipedian, who died in 2018. The award recognises the positive impact on the Wikimedia movement in Australia and we are pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural Craig Franklin Award is Franklin Women! Read the full announcement here.

Wikimedia Australia Partner Projects update

Earlier this year we funded four projects to improve Wikimedia content on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata. This supported QUT digitising their photo archive, Australian Women in Religion’s Wikimedian in Residence, Shire of Paroo adding to Wikipedia, and ACMI’s Wikimedian in Residence. We’ll be sharing more about these projects later this year as they’re now wrapping up.
