Hi Mardetanha,
There were essentially two things that happened during the meeting:
*We will revive the mailing list *We will create a page on Meta where we will list contacts for each country.

Mailing list: you are both reviving this list as you post :)
Table of local hosts for Wikimedian travellers: anytime. Is anyone up for setting up the page and being the first to fill in their details? (name, username, and an "Email this user link" will suffice, I think)
Fund pool for Wikimedian travellers: I think this should be kept private and on-list, with actual arrangements made in private. I understand there's an upcoming conference in India. Who wants to go and need funding, and is there a chapter among us who is happy to fund someone from another Asian chapter?

Hi,
Thanks all for initiating this thread.
I was thinking about this last night. I believe a number of Foundation officials will make it to the WikiConference in India. The India chapter is currently unable to fund travel expenses for foreign nationals. However, we can propose to the Foundation that they allow a grant specially for Asian chapter for travel related expenditure.
I think this is important if we are to build a tighter-knit community of Asian contributors, share best practices and build resources.
Yours sincerely,
Anirudh Bhati

Hi,
Thanks all for initiating this thread.

Hi guys,
I know this list is low-traffic, but I hope to get some discussion
jumpstarted to get Wikimedia Asia moving again.
Anyway, I hope that in the course of the next year (or two), we can get
the following started:
- A Wikimedia Asia Charter similar to the statement of principles of
the Wikimedia Brasil un-chapter
- A Wikimedia Asia "Exchange Fund" which would fund the "exchange" of
Asian Wikimedians within communities. So, for example, a Hong Kong Wikipedian can draw money against the fund to travel, let's say, to India, in order to meet Indian Wikipedians.
- A continent-wide project, like an Asian version of Wiki Loves
MonumentsThe Asian Wikimedia lunch during Wikimania 2011 was very productive, and hopefully we can get Wikimedia Asia moving again, with or without WMF funding.

Josh

Thanks, Ted. :)
All the other people on this list are asked to list their chapter/proposed chapter/working group/organization to the list. :)
Also, to build on Deryck's proposal for a list of Wikipedians people can coordinate with while traveling, maybe we can set up a page similar to the Embassy on Meta, where each country has an "ambassador" which can coordinate visits of Asian Wikipedians between countries.

Josh

General participants. If they intend to travel to that country, they can coordinate with the chapter or group in question. We can draw up a traveling list though. :)

Is that meant to be the travellers' hosts list, or a general participants' list?

Hi,
Thanks all for initiating this thread.

Mailing list: you are both reviving this list as you post :) Table of local hosts for Wikimedian travellers: anytime. Is anyone up for setting up the page and being the first to fill in their details? (name, username, and an "Email this user link" will suffice, I think) Fund pool for Wikimedian travellers: I think this should be kept private and on-list, with actual arrangements made in private. I understand there's an upcoming conference in India. Who wants to go and need funding, and is there a chapter among us who is happy to fund someone from another Asian chapter? I certainly hope we can do it soon. First, let's get the mailing list back on track.
Anyway, here's something that we can base the Wikimedia Asia Exchange Fund on: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Participation.
